AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, is a striker with San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) and is the captain of San Diego Wave FC. She was also co-captain of the United States women's soccer team between 2018 and 2020, along with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. In the months following her graduation early from the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player for the California Golden Bears, Morgan was chosen as the number one overall pick during the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. There, she made her debut in professional football and was a part of the team's success in winning the league championship. Morgan was just 22 when she was picked to be part of the team of the nation in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 in which they came out as runners-up. In 2012's London Olympics she scored the winning goal in the 123rd minute of the semi-final against Canada. Her 2012 ended with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score both 20 and 20 goals. It made her the sixth-youngest U.S. player ever to achieve 20 goals in one season. She was named U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was named a FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in helping the United States winning their titles at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2019. She was selected for the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
